Clarity & Purpose
Frequently Asked Questions
Hypnosis is a trance state induced by guided meditation and verbal prompts. Trance is a natural state that we experience multiple times a day–in the times between waking and sleeping, whenever we zone out while reading, watching tv, scrolling on social media, playing video games, and even sometimes while driving. At these times, our conscious mind is more relaxed and our subconscious mind is more directly available.
The difference between a hypnosis session and these naturally occurring hypnotic states is intention. With intention, this state allows the roots of challenges to be more easily found and understood. This is especially helpful when the roots look different from what is presenting at the surface level of behavior and conscious thought. Once these roots are discovered, they are more easily understood and accepted. This allows any change or shift to easily integrate once the land is reclaimed as one’s own.
Yes! While I spend most of my time in the Southeastern United States, modern technology allows me to work with clients all over the world. Using Zoom, I meet you in the comfort of your own space. This is a grounding and empowering experience in integrating the work we do together. Curious about how to best set up your space for an at home virtual session? Ability to be hypnotized depends on how open and willing you are as a participant along with a number of other factors, including feeling safe and comfortable in your environment and being able to relax, listen, and follow suggestions. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis in that success hinges upon consent and a willingness to follow suggestions. If you do not want to be hypnotized, it will not work for you. If you are feeling hesitant or resistant, it may take more time. It is best to discuss any hesitations or concerns around this before your session. Schedule a complimentary 15-minute clarity call to learn if hypnosis is a good fit for you.
Additionally, while some may feel challenged in relaxing into hypnosis in the first session, additional sessions may be able to provide a deeper experience as your body and mind become more familiar with the sensation associated with hypnosis.
No. You are in control of your mind and choices 100% of the time. You cannot be made to do anything against your will, belief system, or moral code. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. The foundational function of hypnosis requires you to use your own free will to voluntarily follow suggestions. If there is an area or subject that comes up within a session you would prefer to keep private, you will be able to do so. Additionally, ethical practice and professionalism are my top values and of the utmost importance in my practice.

Everyone is different and so is each individual path to whole-ness. Hypnosis often feels extremely relaxing and dreamlike, similar to the sensation of being between sleep and waking. It can feel odd at first to be feeling so relaxed while experiencing such mental and emotional clarity. You can have vivid sensory experiences, like a memory that is grounded in touch, taste, sight, sound, or smell. Many connect with a deep inner awareness that can activate ‘gut feelings’ or alignment with greater Source/Universe/God energy.
Hypnosis often brings emotional movement. It is completely normal to experience tears, laughter, and strong emotional responses during hypnosis. The whole point is to release what you no longer need to hang on to!
I am trained in hypnotherapy and past life regression and received certification in these two areas through a 220-hour course. I am also a certified hypnotherapist through IACT (International Association of Counselors and Therapists), whose code of ethics and annual continuing education requirements serve as a base for my own practice and education beyond. Additionally, I have a year of foundational education in the counseling field that has been important in my approach to hypnosis.
Most of all, I find my own inner growth as guided and nurtured by my mentors informs my educational experience. I find my most valuable experiential education with these humans and the teachers all around me. I joyously maintain a student mindset in the field and in life as I continue to explore the power of self!

Each client is different! Most clients find issues resolved after the first session. Many like to have two or three sessions to explore deeper layers of more complex challenges or to address different or adjacent concerns. Depending upon the issue at hand, you may want more than one session for the shift you are looking for. This can be discussed in a clarity call before scheduling your session or during consultation time within your session.
While many people find great or complete relief around their area of interest within the first session, many others also enjoy the benefits of multiple sessions. Just like learning a new skill, our bodies and minds learn more about what to expect from hypnosis with each hypnosis session. Many clients find it easier and quicker to get to a deeper state of hypnosis over time, especially past the first few sessions. While individual issues can be released in one or two sessions for the majority of people, many enjoy using hypnosis as a tool for various challenges over time. Multiple sessions are ideal for those working with deep wounds. Allowing compound shifts to emerge naturally over a number of sessions allows for more thorough release in these cases.
While hypnotic trance relaxes the body and mind, all hypnosis is done outside of sleep. Some find themselves so relaxed they may fall asleep, though they become unable to respond and interact at this point.
While transformative shifts are often easier in deeper levels of hypnosis, benefit can be felt at every level. It is natural to have lighter experiences of hypnotic trance state at first, which is why deeper spiritual exploration and past life regression are recommended as a subsequent hypnosis session. Additionally, it becomes much easier to ‘get to’ and remain within hypnotic trance with each additional session as your brain and body become more familiar with what to expect.
While some therapists, counselors, and medical doctors use hypnosis in their work, hypnosis sessions and any work within Soulshift Hypnosis are not intended for therapeutic use. Many clients experience positive effects of hypnosis and a variety of improvements to well-being, though this work is not meant to take the place of clinical therapy, medical support, or any other therapeutic method directed by a licensed healthcare professional. If you are looking for this type of support, I recommend contacting a licensed professional found on PsychologyToday or at a medical practice near you.
